Description

These simple, elegant beanies are hand-made in Arequipa. They are thin and light, yet surprisingly insulating.

The yarn is hand-spun, then knit by experienced artisans like Susana. This means you will see and feel the story of the beanie in its structure, including minor variances that give each piece its own unique personality.

This product's value chain is fully transparent. At every step, we know who is involved. This allows us to ensure the decent treatment of artisans, alpaqueras and alpacas.

All information about who was involved is indicated on the hangtag.

  • Hand wash cold
  • Machine wash wool - no spin
  • Dry flat
  • Iron at low temperature
  • Do not spin or tumble dry

Avoid washing wool as much as possible. Unlike synthetics, alpaca wool does not retain much odour. Hanging the item out to air from time to time is usually enough. If it does need washing, use a detergent for delicates.

We recommend not using softener, as it coats the fibre and reduces its moisture and temperature regulating capacity.

Store folded in your closet, as hanging knit garments will cause them to stretch over time. Also place a moth deterrent like cedar balls near your wool products, as moths can infest these and cause severe damage to your garments.

If your scarf starts to pill, i.e. forms fuzzy balls on the surface, you can remove them using a wool brush. This also helps against dust, we do not advise using a dust roll as this can bring the more itchy fibres to the surface.
