About Us

High-quality garments are expensive. Why do those producing them earn so little?

Global fashion trade could be an opportunity for many. Instead, few corporations thrive at the expense of people and planet.

We are losing touch with the value of our garments…

…and with the people and resources behind them.

We need to stop this.

Socialpaca trades directly with local partners. These partners are individuals and small businesses.

We listen to their needs and concerns.

We act on their behalf. And on behalf of the indispensable animals.

Our designs are meant to last.

Today, global fashion trade exploits. It doesn’t need to be this way.

Let’s change it.

We are Yannic and Gabriel Bode, brothers and founders of Socialpaca. In 2018, we travelled through the Andes mountain range. The fantastic properties of alpaca fibre amazed us, as did the traditional artisanal culture surrounding it. But we were shocked by the exploitation that artisans and farmers experience at the hands of big corporations and their intermediaries.

In 2019, we set out to do things differently. We have since been working to build a better value chain for alpaca garments from Peru. We trade directly with local individuals and small businesses, circumventing the exploitative status quo and making products that benefit both alpaca farmers and artisans.

Our garments are made of high-quality baby alpaca fibre. It is brought to its finest through the skills and deep knowledge of traditional Peruvian craftsmanship, combined with modern technological advancements. Socialpaca’s quality garments tell the tale of the people who made them, and allow these people to reap the benefits of their labour.
